Printer Problem?

I'm getting short line markings along the right long edge of every sheet printed by our hp 4050tn printer. I seam to remember we had a fuser replaced on our 4000tn a few years ago with, if I remember correctly, the same printer markings.
Does anyone know if this is the correct diagnosis or should I check out other corrective measures?

Run the half test. Print a few pages. While the printer is printing lift the top cover. Pull out the toner cartridge. Look at the paper below. If it has the right edge line markings, replace the toner.
If there is no line markings..look at the paper that exited. Does that have the marks? Then replace the fuser.
