I changed the fuser on a hp 2420 because of streaks on copies. The streaks are gone but the printer no makes a loud noise. What could cause this?

Put the old fuser back in. Is the noise still there?

This is a known issue with the 2400 series printers... the noise comes from either worn bushings, worn gears, or both... the new fuser gears do not mesh well with the printer's worn drive gears...

Also, there is a gear inside the printer that drives the fuser ... this should be replaced at the same time ... make sure you get a maintenance kit from a source that provides you with this drive gear and also refurbishes their fusers with new bushings & new gears (like PrinterTechs)...

see post in HP laser forum you need to do fuser drive assembly and the two inner gears, also check pressure rollers gear side bushing. Famous problem for all 24xx machines. pm me if you like and I can get you part numbers but they're listed on the other page I mentioned and I think they're correct.
