HP Laserjet 5 front display not working

To my disappointment my super reliable HP Laserjet 5 front display has stopped working. This makes it real difficult to ascertain what the problem is.

Printer was working fine prior to the display switching off.

The printer is defintely getting power as I can hear the fan start when I switch the on/off switch to the on position.

Any help will be appreciated.

It's likely that your display was jarred somehow and became accidentally unplugged ... to access the plug, you will need to remove the printer's right plastic side panel (1 screw), then the top cover (4 screws)... the display plug runs from the bottom of the display circuit board, hidden under the top cover...

If it's plugged in properly, you might have to order a new display.

does the machine still print from the computer? if not then i blame the formatter. :D
