hello everyone,

anyone know what might be the cause of the following problems,

i've 2 hp 5550dn's and never seen these faults before, both faults as far as i can tell are only when duplexing.

1) on both printers, the black and only the black as far as i can tell, when i do the paper path test with the duplex on, the border and even some of the black text looks like there is too much toner or its smudged a bit. i changed as much as i could toners, fusers, transfer belt, i ended up taking out the 'fuser input asssy' the metal strip with the blue levers under the fuser, i cleaned it and it looks in good condition, but with it in, the black still was attracting too much toner. anyone know whats the problem, so i can put the assy back in and get a good print ?. with out the 'fuser input assy' the print is ok as it should be..

2) when duplexing, as the printer prints side 2 first, then side one, some times both printers fold the left corners of the page as it leaves the fuser, again this only does it on duplex and only on the left corner/s , i was thinking it has to either fold the corners while the paper goes back in the fuser, in the transfer belt or in the pickup assy, but i've changed these parts, as well as toners, fusers, picklup assy, transfer belts with other 5500 printers and it still does it. any idea's again ?

thanks everyone

Sounds like fusers in both cases ... are these rebuilt fusers, or OEM?

Esp. with problem #2, seems like it's a fuser almost every time I've heard of this "creasing only with duplexing" problem...

thanks for the reply.

i've tired 3 used fusers, their oem's.

but what's the chances of 3 fusers being like that?. ive refurbed many 5550's in the past and never seen this problem before, and to get 2 at once..

i don't think its the fusers, as when the paper has gone back inside the printer, ive opened the front cover, and not once have a seen the corners folded while the paper is on the outside of the transfer belt b4 it goes back in the pickup assy, its folding either when it goes back in the pickup assy upto the toner cartridges, i've changed the pickup assy out of 2 scrap printers and it still does it, its intermittent thou. so its hard to find the cause.

but today , i've seen a similar problem where the top corners are folded on a hp 3600dn while using the duplex, and from what i can tell its when the paper goes back into the pickup assy, its not feeding properly and around about half an inch from the top its catching, and somehow the corners get folded over.

If you've tried 3 fusers that pretty much rules the fusers out ...
how about paper type? We've seen some really cheap paper that creases much easier than other paper types... if it's intermittent, paper type seems like a good potential ...
