Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could help me out with this one. I’m working on a HP LJ 9500 MFP that has a finisher, networked, fax kit, 640 Mb total ram, page count 214090. It’s giving me a 13.05 fuser jam lower left door error. So I move the finisher away, open the lower left door, remove the duplexer and see the page sticking half way out of the fuser. Remove paper, reinstall everything, and try to print a config page, same thing. 13.05 error. Open it up again and the paper stopped in the same place. By the way only half of the page is getting fused properly. Ran a fuser motor test. Works fine, ran a paper path sensor test from the diagnostics mode. And from what I could tell sensor G (pre-fuser sensor) was not getting tripped. So I order a new photo sensor and a fuser sensor PCB. Get the parts, go back to the site, replace 1 at a time then try both. Still getting the same thing. 13.05 paper stops at same spot. next I try to print an engine test page. Well just as the engine test page is getting to the jam location the machine throws a 49.234A error. The engine test patter prints like it should (though only half of it fused) but still stops in that same spot. The machine will only throw the 49 error when I try an engine test page. If I do a config page it stops in the same spot and throws a 13.05. I did check the firmware and the machine has an older version (08.061.9) than the current version (08.110.9). This will be one of the things I try when I get back out to the machine next week, but my question is what else should I try?? New fuser, DC controller? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long post. I’ve been lurking these forums since I found out about this site in late June and I figured if anyone could help me out someone on here could.

thanks

phil

disconnect or remove your optional units (no finisher, no duplex unit, and disconnect tray 4 and any other optional attachment) and test from the base unit trays. send the paper output through output door and not to top cover. Does it stop in the same place? If it does , replace the fuser.

If it works good, your problem is 1 or more option. Start with the duplex unit and test. Then attach the tray 4 and test. Then finisher and test. check to see if you have a problem, as soon as you do that is probably it.

DC controller maybe a problem, but its more apt to be a fuser first. I've seen a finisher with a bad connection cable cause a jam problem from tray 4 so test the base machine first to eliminate optional attachment problem.

Eliminate everything it could be and whatever's left is your problem.
49 error is related to formatter. I have no idea why you would get that when running an engine test as that's not being used. Troubleshoot the jamming issue first.

:D FIX! fuser fixed it. i'm a little peeved though b/c one of the first things i asked the customer on the first visit to this machine was if they had any spare fusers around. they so no, so i began the other less expensive parts replacements that i had onhand. on friday i gave her a quote on a fuser and all of a sudden they found 1!. lol ...... so they put it in, called me back "yea it works great!"....... . thanks for the suggestion on the fuser prntrfxr.
ohh, and as for the 49. error. they guy who trained me on the 9500's says that 49 errors are normal with engine tests.... seems strange but i dont have two 9500's to verify this with.

thanks again!

1 more thing, from what i could tell the pressure between the heat and pressure rollers on the old fuser was very weak. could be why the pages were stopping halfway through the fuser at the same place. just a follow up thought....
