USB > 40ft

My usb printer is about 40ft from my computer.

Can I configure a cable this way to make it work at that distance?

CPU ->"USB to Ethernet Adapter" ->40ft Ethernet Cable ->"Ethernet to USB Adapter" ->USB Printer

I'm not sure how well these technologies will convert, because you're converting the signal twice--from USB to network signal, back to USB... I don't know that I would count on this being " stable" ... if you need to keep your printer that far away and you print a lot, rather than investing in a print server I would suggest getting a network capable printer ...

I don't believe that it will work. Even with a 40' USB cable. The signal degradation would be too much.

HP sells a wireless G print server(Q6301A). Check it out.

If I replaced the first usb to ethernet adapter with a Linksys Router(BEFSR410), Does this open up any possibilities?

CPU Ethernet card ->Router ->ethernet to usb ->Printer

This computer is not connected to the internet.

I had a situation wher I had about 20 feet of USB and could not print.
When I shortened the length to 15 feet, it printed O.K.
