I am working with a Windows 2000 system and an HP 2200d printer.

It worked yesterday when I was here, but the printer plug got disconnected when I was working behind the computer. Now it wont print.

Windows gives the error: "There was an error found when printing the document "Test Page" to DOT4_001. Do you want to retry or cancel the job?"

Retry doesn't work.

I have powercycled a million times, reinstalled the driver, tried a new printer cable.

I didnt see the dot4.sys file in c:\windows\system32\drivers so I got it from drivers.cab and put it there, still no luck.

The printer works with the USB hookup, but the server program won't print to a USB printer apparently.

Part of the problem is that this is a server that cash registers hook into, so the printer cable has 2 adapters hooked to it. something like a null modem adapter or something, but they arent labeled in a way that I can tell what they are.

One of them says "ICL Lite" "Telxon S4ShlfImg"

Not sure what that means, but I think they are some sort of software keys for the POS system.

Any advice?

Which is the plug that you disconnected, power?, network?, USB?
