I need a part number for the firmware chip that plugs into the top slot in the Formatter Assy. I don't have a Service Manual for this particular printer and any help would be appreciated. Thanks..Murphy

No part number. The firmware DIMM is soldered to the formatter. It is not replaceable in the field.

RedCow,
If I remove the chip that's in slot 1 from a known good formatter Assy., and place it in slot 1 in the printer that's not booting up...the printer will then work. Boot-up, do a test print, the display will work etc, ...what I'm after is the identity of the chip that's in slot 1 from the known good printer. It looks to be wider than what I've normally seen in the other slots on the formatter. Is it just another species of memory chip ? Thanks

First, are you sure it's a LaserJet 4350DTN ... if it is a 4350 series, then there is no DIMM chip as RedCow says...

So I believe you're saying without this chip present, your printer display is completely dead ?

Normally there are model #'s , brand markings, and memory sizes listed on small labels on these chips ... a lot of times if you try typing various combinations of these names & numbers into Google, something will eventually come up referring to the chip you have ...

That is correct..without the chip in the #1 slot, there is no display. It will not boot up....of course, without the display, I can't tell what it's doing..any suggestions regarding this ? I took the HP number off one of the chips that worked and ordered it through my parts system and they tell me that it's an invalid part number. I may do as you suggest and google the number and see what shows up. Thanks for all the replies... Murphy

It's the memory that you are removing.
You said in your 1st posting that you wanted the p.n. for the firmware chip that plugs into the formatter.
I replied that there is no p.n., because it can't be field replaced.

At that point you never said you removed the DIMM from another printer. If you want a DIMM p.n.

Received the memory DIMM today and that's exactly what the printer needed to work. It now boots up, has a display & prints. Thanks for all the information. Murphy
