Hi all,my laserjet 5l has started jamming paper.I know this is a common problem with this printer but this is the first time its happened to me ,i have had the printer 18 months!!

The paper will only go into the printer with a half of the page printer and not all fused and wont come out,it is just visible before exit at the front.this occurs whether the o/p is set to front or top.
The error light is then continually on and trying to reset it just results in the error light again.

My question is,do i need a service kit, rollers etc or is there a more serious problem?
I dont want to pay for a kit if it wont fix the problem!
Any one know the best place in the uk to purchase the service kit if thats whats needed?
Many thanks...Pete

If we cant be in front of the printer, we cant give you exact cause. We can assist with troubleshooting and give suggestions based on the symptoms you're having and our previous experience. To expect exact fix without seeing the printer is impossible.

*Usually paper jamming problems with this printer involves the separation pad. The printer will pull more than 1 sheet of paper and it gets jammed under the cartridge or going into the fuser. Replace p/u roller asm RG5-3486 & separation pad kit RY7-5077 Do not buy HP's quick fix kit, unless it has these parts in it and change both items.

*If there is a problem with the fixing unit, it will jam in the middle of the fuser.
fixing unit RG5-3459
pressure roller RF5-1516

*If there is a problem or obstruction at the output, the paper will accordian or crumple as its coming out. clear obstruction. check position of output guide. reseat if necessary, replace if broken.

Thanks for the advice.I am pretty sure it is the fixing unit that is causing the problem and will post a reply when i have got the parts and hopefully fixed it.
Again many thanks for the advice....Pete
