Hello!

I have a power problem with my Laserjet 2600n

When i power it on with the switch, it will start the init, and then i hear a relay click and the power shuts off. If i try and switch it off, and back on, it will click twice maybe 3 times, and remain powered off. If i let it sit for about 5 mins, and try the power switch again, it will go through the init, but again I hear a relay click and it powers off.

I have tried 3 other power outlets on different circuits, to no avail.

I have tried re-seating the the plugs and looked for burnt spots on the 2 boards behind the rear cover, to no avail.

I have reset the NVRAM as per the service manual, to no avail.

The only thing I can think of that caused my problem, is a very very close lightning strike on Sunday. I cannot remember if we've tried printing since then. The other thing I did tonight was physically move the printer to another location, and after trying to power it on, began to try and troubleshoot the problem.

Please help fellow techs!

Thanks,
Cory.

PS I am A+ Certified, and have some printer knowledge (years ago!)

Try a fuser. At the start, the power will go through the P/S and the H/V, the scanner and the DC Cont. Then to the fuser.

- Ty Cobb - Tried reseating some of the connection, not sure what you mean about the alignments. Not sure how to isolate the P/S

- MichaelTech - Is there any way that I can test the fuser or disconnect it to see if the symptoms change?

A tech at a local printer repair shop advised me that it could be a firmware problem, or the formatter board, and offered to check it out for me at no charge. It just means I have to try and get it to the shop somehow during my busy schedule... hehe...

Thanks for the replies!

You've got the A+ Cert. Do you really think firmware is going to pick a solenoid?
The Tech is going to troubleshoot it for free, make the time!
