printing high quality images and ink usage

Does this use up more ink on the same size paper. For example printing a 5MP image next to a 8MP image on 4x6 paper?

As a rule of thumb your printer is going to produce more dots per square inch which means more ink to produce better quality/finer-resolution images. I'm not sure if the output would be different between a 5MP and 8MP image but if you were to choose say "Normal" output for one and then "Photo" quality for another then the latter would use more ink.
