Hello...
Have a new CP3505 printer. Installed the toners that come with the printer. The supplies page says the toners should yield 6000 pages (I know this is an estimeted yield). I've printed 1800 pages over the past week and now the Black says it's at 38% with 1400 pages remaining. All of the color toners are at 90%. That'a a yield of maybe 3000 pages +/- for the black. Roughly half of the expected yield. Why is that? Is the black toner provided 1/2 full? Is there a setting I can change. Don't see one availble in the configuration webpage of the device.
Thanks,
BV

Call HP and ask them. They make the cartridges.

Some new printers come with starter cartridges, meaning they aren't full, esp. low-end printers.
Also the percent coverage might be a factor. Toners are generally rated at 5% coverage.

hi,
this one is from CP 1510,CP 1210 and CM1312 mfp..try to read, hope this helps..
Issue Descriptions
An issue has been discovered that affects the toner gauges for the Color LaserJets CP1510, C1210, and CM1312 mfp series printers.
Under certain circumstances, it is possible for a cartridge with a significant percent life remaining to abruptly jump down to toner low state (10%). Following is a scenario that will demonstrate this issue:
1. Recently installed a cartridge
2. Toner gauge appears to be working.
3. Within a very short number of pages, toner gauge suddenly drops to “toner low” state (default setting is 10%)
4. Cartridge continues to work and Print Quality is acceptable, but toner gauge seems abnormally low and printer is giving an “Order Supplies” message.
5. In some cases, after printing only a few pages, the toner gauge will drop to 0% and the printer will give a “Replace Supplies” message.
Resolution and Customer Response
The HP engineering team is aware of this firmware issue and is working to resolve this. Within a reasonable amount of time, a new Firmware Version will be made available. This White Paper will be updated with release dates and firmware download instructions.
Until the new firmware version is available, the customer may workaround this issue by continuing to print, ignoring the “Order Supplies” message. If the printer goes to the “Replace Supplies” state, the customer may continue printing in override mode to get full use of the cartridge (see instructions below for changing override mode settings). The customer will no longer have visibility to some supplies alerts while in override mode. The customer will have to replace the cartridges when print quality starts to degrade.
If the Cartridge Out Override Feature is used, customers need to be aware that the printer will continue in Override mode, until the printer supplies setting is changed back to the default settings by the user. If in the future, customers want visibility to toner alerts (which are designed to be helpful in managing supplies) the printer settings will need to be returned to the default settings.
If the customer remains unsatisfied by this recommendation to enable the printer cartridge override mode, the customer’s cartridge should be replaced as a warranty return.
