HP LaserJet 8100 Fuser builds up with toner 2 inches in the center of the hot roller, no errors, takes 3000-6000 pages to appear. Have changed complete fuser 6 times, different cores...2 after market manufacturers hot rollers, OEM hot roller...no change. Have replaced the low voltage power supply twice, & the DC controller once....still comes back. The customer is using original HP cartridges, 5+ in the last year, since this problem came up....they're very patient...
Any & all help appreciated...

I inspected the fuser in question and indeed it was a brand new HP fuser coming out of a brand new 8150 printer; it had the same toner build-up on the center of the upper fuser roller. This happens occasionally and I don't know exactly why. One thing to note is that there is a bias applied to the upper fuser roller from the high voltage power supply, this helps repel toner. If the connection is bad or there is a problem with the HVPS then that could speed up the toner build-up. Also aftermarket toner formulations may be problematic. Running a cleaning page might help, and make sure the fuser pressure tabs (envelope tabs) are down. Also hollow cleaning roller might flex in the center, solid aluminum cleaning rollers are recommended.

Customer uses original cartridges. I cleaned the contacts for the bias connections & used contact enhancer as well....no change. The cleaning rollers replaced in all the fusers are the solid type...buildup on them is concentrated in the center as well.

I re-build these fusers. I remove the small roller under the pressure roller and toss them. The lamps could be failing, and/or the fuser has been dropped a few times, weakening the filaments. They run hot, but excessive heat can be felt, and will relate to the H/V assy. P/S could have an effect on it as well.
