Light printing on right side of page

Can someone tell my why my laserjet 5 is printing lightly down the entire right hand side, about one-two inches in from the right? There is no streaking or smudging, just light print.

I have tried three different cartridges from other printers that are working fine.

Is there a way to turn up the darkness on a Laserjet 5? I can't find an adjustment wheel like some of the other printers have.

The most likely cause is dirt on the lenses, mirrors in the laser assembly.

Is there some info on how I can clean the lens/mirrors ?

You will have to take the top cover off and remove the laser scanner, open it and wipe the lenses and mirrors clean with a cotton bud.
