View Full Version : Laserjet 4M ghosting

I have searched the forums and have concluded:

1) the ghosting may be caused by the toner I just purchased (remanufactured)
2) some part of the fuser needs to be replaced

I would like an opinion as to how to get rid of the ghosting if I still want to use the toner. I paid 30 bucks for the toner and would like to not have to just throw it away.

It's fuser. If the heat roller is not damaged, you can clean it off.
The lamp may either be run-away, or not up to temp.
Check the transfer roller, and clean.

This does look like a fuser issue-- it's probably time to install a maintenance kit and replace fuser & rollers, as that is quite an old printer.

A half-way test is the best way to be sure the repeating image is from the fuser and not the toner--you can read this article:
