HP 5000 paper jam

I just installed the maintenance kit on my HP 5000 and the paper is jamming up every time regardless of the tray I feed from. It is getting caught on the metal plate shown in this picture, right before the transfer roller.

Could someone please tell me what I did wrong to get this to start happening? Thanks in advance.

Is the transfer roller installed correctly?
Perhaps the paper sensor under the metal plate has been dislodged.

Could be a stuck sensor, or as brian says the transfer roller isnt seated properly.

Reseat the transfer roller.
