I have a printer HP8150 with an unknown telnet password.
I checked this forum and did a cold-reset of the printer.
That worked the password was gone:), however also the serial number and the formatter number.
I managed to change serial number into the real serial number, but the formatter number is stil S46XXXXXXXX

I searched the forum and googled and I found several ways to change almost everything, but not this formatter number.:confused:

Question:
can anybody tell me how to change the formatter number?
Thanks in advance:)

use the file attached

Start a command prompt in windows and type EDIT

do not type ESC (like below) but use the arrow left character like used in the attachment
you can use key combination CONTROL-P and release them. Then press ESC keys to create it in the MSDOS edit window

ESC%-12345X@PJL
@PJL SET SERVICEMODE=HPBOISEID
@PJL SET FORMATTERNUMBER=<YOUR FORMATTER NUMBER>
ESC%-12345X

AND SEND THIS FILE TO THE PRINTER WITH THE COMMAND

COPY /B TEST.TXT LPT1
