:( Hello Everyone,

I have a HP4700DTN that took a lightning strike at one of our remote offices and now it will not power on at all. It obviously took a electrical hit as everything on the surge strip does not work and smells of burnt electrical stuffs!! Anyway this thing is out of warranty and has seen very little use, sooo we would like to fix it. I am on my way over today to bring it back to my office and start tearing it down to see if I can figure out what to replace. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start with on this thing? Any help would be ver much appreciated. Thank you in advance

Geez, with a lightning hit????
How about insurance?
Anything that current passes through is probably toast.
DC Controller, memory, toner sensor board, HV power, LV power, formatter, fuser. Just to name a few. I'll bet that when you get done replacing parts it still won't work, and you'll have spent enough money to buy a new printer.

Good luck

Redcow is right, usually insurance covers this...

guys above are probably right.there is a chance that when the lightning caused a surge in the line, that the low voltage power supply circuit fuse tripped to protect it and shut down any path for the surge to go the rest of the way.if you were going to try it at all ,i would start with the low voltage power suply.which essentially is the board that the power cord plugs into.if it don't work after that ,then it could all be fried.
