Noisy HP 4250 Laser Printer

I have a HP 4250 printer here that makes a lot of noise while printing. Any clues as to how to go about it? Help

A couple of things can be noisy:

1. If it's a gear grinding noise, this noise can be from worn-out gears: either on your fuser or on the swing plate assembly.
The swing plate gear is notorious for wearing out on this model.

2. If it's a higher pitched "whining" noise, you might check your toner cartridge.

the new swingplates or gear replacement kits usually come with a spacer disk to prevent this .if it is a swingplate and you take out the fuser you should be able to see if the gear is worn.often there will be some plastic debris under the black gear.

a high pitched whining noise can also be the laser scanner motor.it sounds kind of like a jet engine during printing and will wind down slowly after the print is done.if you have a whining noise and you open the top cover,the scanner does not turn ,so if a whining noise is present when the top cover is opened and closed,then it would not be the scanner.thats one way to help tell.
