Printer Slow Printing Things

When I go to print something it takes my printer forever to print it. My printer is an HP Deskjet 3745 printer. I tried printing out a Christmas card and it probably took 15 minutes to print just the one side of it. Could someone please help me? Does anyone have any ideas? Is it that it takes a long time for the job to be sent to the printer or once the job starts to print it takes a long time?

Is your printer connected USB or Parallel ?
what OS do you have on your PC?
How does your PC run in general? zippy ? slow?

Thank you for replying to my post. My printer is USB and my OS is Windows XP Home. My PC is a little slow at times. I need to uninstall some of the programs that I don't use. I figured out what the problem was. I was trying to print out a greeting card in PrintMaster 17 and that is why it was slow. Again, thank you for taking the time to reply.
