Hi everyone
Have had a client ring up and say that their HP 2430 makes a whistling sound when printing and when it is first turned on. I have not had a chance to attend site and hear it for my self.
Any ideas on what could be causing this noise?
cheers

Could be the laser. A bad fan?

The first thing we did was swap the toner cartridge with another one from the same type of printer. the printer has only done 160,000 copies, fuser has previously been replaced by HP under warranty (i believe)
The whistling noise is also intermittent. Printer is left on 24/7. I am yet to hear the noise myself though i am told it was quite loud.
Will let you guys knows what happens.
thanks in advance.
sounds like a scanner motor to me;can they determine if it's comming from the top, back side?probably would be easier if you are out there and some covers are off during the print.

i would have suggested that you replace your hp laser printer toner cartridge but you already did the same. i have yet to encounter such problem with my printer----but i've had this whistling sound from my CPU. it was due to the motor where the fan was attached. so in your case, i assume, like raz said, the motor. have you tried contacting the manufacturer?
