Hi everyone
i'm writing here searching for some suggestions about a laser printer that i bought 1 month ago, as a second hand item, on ebay online shop (it's a reconditioned one). The model of the printer is HP LASER JET 5100tn, with 2 drawers, one for A4 and one for A3 paper's format.

After a month of perfect work, is from 2 days that i got a very strange
error:
it happens when i decide to print A5 papers (but doesn't happen when i use
A4 and A3 format of paper) with hand alimentation from the upper drawer (148mmx210mm). The paper stops under the toner cartridge of the printer, giving me the error "jammer paper under the toner cartridge".

I take away the jammed paper and after 2/3 tests the printer start working again without problems.
Basically is like the printer found a sliding of the paper under the toner cartridge...
Now, how can i solve this problem??... could be a problem that i can solve by myself or i gotta go to an help desk?

If the problem would be the roll that drag the paper... would be possible to adjust it without calling the help desk?

hope to hear soon some suggestions!!

thanks much!

Are you setting the correct paper size in "paper handling".
It sounds like the printer isn't seeing the paper size that it is expecting.

Set correct paper size at printer end & set the same in system.

the registration would be moving it at that point until it gets to the fuser..you could try cleaning the registration rollers.

is the A5 the same specs as the A3 and A4?as far as weight ,grade,etc...?

The specs for A5 format are the same of A4 and A3 ones.

For the real dimesions I can set up a new format called for example A5_1, giving different sizes 145x210 (instead of 148x210).
Would be ok, to set the new format only in printer manager or have i to do also in system?? (if i got also to do in system option, how can i do it?)

Where can i found the registration rolls? how can i clean them?
thanks

i'm not sure how well you will be able to get at the registration rollers from the top on this printer.but if you take out the cartridge, then the registration would be right underneath it ,there should be a small green handle to the side that will allow you to lift the top guide of the registration and the rollers should be under there.there should be a couple plastic guide rollers up against them ,but they are black rubber rollers just under the plastic rollers.pure water or a rubber referbisher will work.

if you set any of the page sizes by millimeters or inches you would go to the printing menu and select ,"configure custom paper"= yes then the specific size setting options should be there.
