I have a LJ 8000 that's showing a error of 55.A Has anyone seen this before and if so, what's the culprit ? Turning the machine off/on brings the printer back to ready but the error comes right back..thanks Murphy.

don't know a whole lot on this particular error, but as far as i know,it generally is an internal communication error.usually between the dc controller and fuser.you could try removing and reseating the cables between the dc controller and fuser.it could be an issue with the fuser or dc controller itself.a cold reset could be a possible option,or check that your firmware is up to date.

Thanks Raz for the info..I'll give your suggestions a go and see what happens. I do have a complete fuser that I could swap into the printer. I'll let you know how it turns out..

The best answer I could find is from page 438 of the HP Laserjethttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2.gif (http://hardware.mcse.ms/message152199.html#) 8000
Service Manual. The "A" in 55.A means "HUNG_COMMUNICATIONS"

yea,i think this can be a communication issue between other things also sometimes, like between the dc controller and formatter or something.not certain on this though.

A formatter would be a 79 error, but still could be a problem on the buss.
Any new memory installed? Pull and re-seat, just the firmware, and one memory chip. Pull the NIC.
