I have a 4250n (recently out of warranty...) that works great. Only problem is, the screen is totally blank. When I turn on the printer, the lights around the display light up, but nothing ever appears on the screen. Not a problem until something else breaks and I have to use the screen to diagnose! Thanks.
if everything else is working,it may well just be the display or perhaps the cable to the display board.there are usually 4 - 6 screws on the under side of the cover on this printer ,underneath the display.you could try to pop them off to take off the under cover and unplug and replug the cables into the board.otherwise, removing and reseating the formatter may help.what happens if you just tap on the display a bit.any change?or just removing and reseating a firmware dimm may help.one other possibility is to try a cold reset, which sets everything back to factory defaults.sometimes this can snap things back into play when other options don't.

I'm supposing that you only have this one 4250?
The same cable that lites the op panel lites gives you the op panel display.
If you lift the top cover there are two screws that come out. There is a flat plastic rod that supports the lid. Look where it attaches to the lid. Use a finger nail or screwdriver to squeeze the plastic and pop out the flat rod. It's really very simple. at the back of the cover on top that strip pops out. two screws under it come out. Top can now be lifted a couple of inches. the ribbon cable will pull straight up and out. Now plug it back in. and reverse the process. That plastic flat rod snaps back into the lid. This allows the cartridge to release when lid is raised. Power it up. If the panel displays, great. if not it's probably toast. order another one.
Oh, if you had another 4250, you could swap tops and confirm that the bad one is toast.

Just FYI. The 4250's don't have firmware dimm's. They have a chip soldered to the formatter board.
yea,i replied there in a hurry biztec, but yes it is soldered on with this printer.as well as the embedded nic is.which sucks ,because if there is a problem with either of these, the only thing you can really do is replace the formatter.other than trying to upgrade the firmware.
