Hello people,
I ordered myself a used LJ4 duplexer and now I can't figure out how to shove that thing into the rear part of my printer.
Does anyone know where I can find an installation howto - preferably with pictures in it?
Thank you so much in advance!
you should'nt have to shove it in.open the rear printer door and take off the strap and retaining clip.slide the door towrds the left to get it out of the right pin then pop it out.basically ,it rests on top of it;just make sure the pins are lined up.if you use a 500 sheet feeder, put that down first ,then set the duplexer on top of it(with pins lined up);then the printer on top of the duplexer(with pins lined up).otherwise, just set the printer on top of the duplexer with the pins lined up.

raz, thanks for the quick response.
I removed the rear door as you said and put the printer atop of the duplexer. All pins are aligned.
Now I have this large piece sticking out of the flat duplexer 'base' that I put underneath the printer. From that large piece I have black plastic 'claws' pointing towards the now open rear of my printer. The large piece with claw appendages I'm talking about is attached to the base via two hinges on both sides and I think I'm supposed to move that large clawed thing towards the rear of the printer thus closing the rear of the printer again.
Summing up I'm assuming the large piece with claws to replace the original rear door I just removed as that new large piece has the same lever/clipper thing on top to lock itself into the rear of the printer as the original door did.
I hope that was too confusing. It's hard to say what you mean without photos ;)

Just a clarification, the LJ 4 won't take a duplexer. The 4-Plus will.
this is correct i believe;i assume printerperson means a 4+.

Oh sorry...of course I mean 4+.
Now...have you guys installed one of those duplexers yet? Do you know where the little claws need to go and stuff?
i don't remember the claws offhand ,(been a while).but if the large piece you are talking about is the switchback assembly ;then it folds down at the point where it is attached to the rest of the duplexer by some hinges.after the duplexer is under there ,it should go back up against the back of the printer, roughly where the rear door was.it may be that the claws are there to snap it back up into the printer.i tried to put a pic of the procedure on here ,but it was too large to attach.
