HP Laserjet 3330 error 79

Can anyone help with this error 79 that says "power on power off" and ths scanner just keeps warming up. I keep powering off and on without success. HP solution was to clean the mirrors and black cable and the white strip so scanner assembly can tell where it is. All done to no avail. Anyone have a workable solution?

To calibrate the scanner, plug unit in. When the scanner moves out, unplug quickly. Do this at least 5-6 times, until the scanner is more than half way out. Then start-up and let it move back. If not, then re-seat the cables, and hold * 6 buttons as you plug it in. This unit is only rated for a few years, and I would not spend too much time on it. Note: sometimes the service station is sticking, and may cause the problem.
