HP LJ 5000n Tray 3 open

I have a client with with a HP LJ 5000n with the third tray. Even with the tray closed, it reports that it is open. You have to try to push the tray to the left (only moves maybe a hair) and then will stop reporting it is open. If you bump the printer or the cabinet it is on, it will start reporting tray 3 is open again.

Is there anything I can do about this problem? It is a printing shop and they want to start using tray 3 for 11x17 plates.

Check the tray size sensor. The metal flanges may be bent.

All of the metal flanges appear to be fine. However the size inidicators on the tray appear to be some what floppy and move side to side rather easily.
