I did some checking on here to try and figure out my problem and from the defects page and the measuring page it looks as if the problem is the Developing Cylinder. We replaced the toner cartridge and the image got much better but came back again, I'm getting black smudged lines across the page at even intervals. Does the printer need a Maintenance Kit, it has roughly 14,000 pages on it? The lines are exactly 1 1/2" apart.

Developing cylinder and primary charge roller are both part of the cartridge.Some of the common problems might be use of labels in the printer,someone who regularly takes the cartridge out and sets it to the side for some reason,regular jamming and no one who knows the proper method for clearing it, and someone who cleans the drum because of some problem (s)he thinks it will solve.
