I have had pretty good luck refilling my cartridges for my Lexmark X-73 and my X-74/75. Now, however, I am having a problem which may be the printer rather than the cartridges. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

I refilled -for the second time- my black cartridge from my X-73. The align and test prints were terrible and text was unreadable. Thinking the cartridge has outlived its usefulness I took it to my local Walgreens drug store where they will refill it for $10. They would not refill it because I drilled a hole in it for my refills. I had another empty black cartridge which I took in had filled. It failed to work. They used yet another cartridge they had and it also failed. I purchased a cartridge from an online source and guess what...same as the others.

This makes me think the printer might be the problem. Is there any sort of maintenance I should be doing when changing cartridges? Are there circuit boards in the printer I can clean, and if so, how?
