Dear Sir,
Can anyone help me connect my HP Laserjet 2100TN, complete with a Jetconnect 600N P/Server? This was surplus to my companies requirments and therefore I know it all works ok, incl the Jetconnect card. I am trying to find out how I would best connect this to my Desktop (Dell GX270 P4 2.8, running XP Pro)
I have the printer manual from the HP site, but all unsure which drivers to use as there appears to be numerous options with no clear explaination of which is specifically for my printer & O/System, Model # C4172A, Serial # SGCB007176.
My PC has an ethernet connection and I would prefer to use this and the print server, but if you think I would be better to connect via the Parallel connector, I still have an issue, as my PC only has a Serial port!!

I am a fairly literate user so I'm up for a challenge, as this printer works fine and I have managed to print test pages and the self test/configuration page

All advise appreciated

Regards

Joe, the best thing to do is to re-set the Jetdirect card. Hold down both buttons on the printer while powering on. Hold for about 6 secs. This will zero out the settings. Turn off unit, Connect your cable to the card, and re-start. It will pick up a TCP/IP address. print the config page, go to the driver, ports, and put the IP into the second bar,{printername, IP}. You can use the XP driver, or the 2000 one. there may be an issue with the 600n, that cant handle the speed of the computer. May have to get a 615, or 620 card.
