Howdy all, this may be tough unless your an old fart like me, and work on these relics.
Get an "88" error when carriage moves to middle, then back, not going through the whole course.
Changed motor, driver board, P-head to no avail.
Cannot get any info anywhere on web, or IBM. Thanx, Michael

original hardcopy service book (yes, its a relic) indicates -

88 No ribbon installed or ribbon incorrectly seated
1. Press STOP
2. Install ribbon, or make sure the ribbon is correctly seated.
3. Press START
4. Resubmit the print job.
