View Full Version : need to make toss/keep decision on hp deskjets
Got a couple of HP Deskjet printers at a location where's there's no computers accessible. I'd like to make a keep/toss decision on these.
They both power up, but the "resume" light flashes (not plugged into a pc parallel port).
Can I validly conclude these are bad from the presented indications?

What kind are they? You don't give us anything to work with.
Have you tried to print a test page?
HP Deskjet 842c, and HP Deskjet 694.
I'd like to be able to try and print a test page without having to take 'em to a computer, but don't know how.

It's been a while since I've seen those printers. The cartridges probably cost more than the printer.
You didn't say, so I'm assuming you have paper in these bad boys!
To run a test page you have to hold down one or two of the buttons.
Start with the Power. Hold it down for a few seconds and then release it.
If that doesn't work...hold the Resume and release it. Maybe hold both and release.
If you get the rite button a test page will print.
You know it's possible the cartridges are bad.
Check out hp.com. Support. enter the model number. It will tell what the lites mean.
