My Hp 4240n will not allow compatibles to be used.

When I put one in it says "Incorrect Supply".

I have tried 5 different compatibles from 3 companies and none will work.

I didn't not think HP could restrict the use of compatibles?

Is there someway I can make them work?

You need to make sure you are using the "A" version. The 4240N will not accept a X version OEM or compatible

The Q5942A is the only cartridge that will work in that printer. If you are selling a new compatible product you will also need the special chip. We have them...

I don't guess there is any way to convert the printer to be able to use a 42X is there?

Hey,

try using remanufactured - still cheaper than the OEM!
