I have a HP 9000n that will print small files but crashes on slide presentations. Error Code displayed is I.O. 81.0180. Any thoughts?

Network card may have a problem. Try another card. or try the PCL5e driver.
File size? Postscript files? Memory size?

 The printer now has a gear issue. It makes horrible ker-chunking as it is printing. I opened the left side door and held the sensor switch closed and the fuser drive gear lever so that it would engage and could feel the thumping. It made no noise when the drive gear was not engaged to the fuser. There was some debree on the duplexing tray that was plastic or phenolic in nature. I am thinking that the fuser may have reached the end of its usefulness but would like another opinion. Thanks:)

Yes, this is so. Pressure roller develops a flat spot.

There is a known problem with some of the older LJ 9000 dc controller boards. They can cause flat spots on the pressure roller from leaving the pressure roller in one spot too long. The only remedy is to change the fuser and the dc-controller.

How long would you term in time? This printer is used daily to print production and aircraft maintenance actions for all assigned acft daily. I think this printer might be on the verge of overworked. That said a maintenance kit should fix this issue?
