the fan runs in low speed when it go's into power saver mode (high speed when printing).
I would like to get the fan to shut off in power saver mode, obviously it runs from the DC control card ,does anyone have any suggestions.
I was told that a DC contol card from a laserjet 5 (?) will shut off fan in power saver mode. can anyone help or confirm this.
thanks in advance

p.s. works nice as a network printer, used a netgear printer server (19.95 tiger direct) :)

Okay, dear.
You can't put a LJ5 DC in a 4+. Try removing the formatter cage, and blow off the dust from everything. May help.

well duh thats what its suppose to do, the fan is designed to keep working at low speed to exhust the heat from the power supply, formatter, DC Controller keeping them cool.

High speed is for during printing.

All LaserJet 4 and 4 Pluses behave this way, you have nothing to worry about, I would be conserned if the fan wasnt working, you will have a service error message if it did, if you try to jam the fan you get a service message too.
