Is there any difference between the ribbons used in thermal printers and those in barcode/cd label ones?

Chemically they are the same, but obviously the cartridges are shaped differently. there's also a special type called dye-sub, which prints colors better. You can read this guide (http://www.pickyguide.com/computers_and_software/printer_ribbons_guide.html) for more info :)

????? Thermal printer refers to the type of printing technology.Bar code/CD label printer describes what the printer is used for.I've seen laser,inkjet,thermal and other printer typesw used for barcodes and labels.
