I have a problem feeding paper from tray 3. It started by the black pickup roller feeding the paper to the blue separator rollers but ocassionally not going between them and then rucking. It gradually got worse and new rollers made no difference. I have now bought and installed a whole new feed assy. The problem now is that although the paper gets through to the rhs vertical feed that's as far as it goes. Throughout all this the feed from tray 2 is fine. Can anyone out there suggest what to do next.?

Possibly the PIU may be re-furbished, and all the rollers are not replaced.
Could be the diverter rollers, and\or the exit rollers are worn. Make sure that tray 3 is set for right paper size.

Did you in fact change the PIU?
Do you have a tray 4? Does that have the same problem as tray 3?
If you did in fact change the PIU, Take out the toner and lift the flap to look at the 2nd pass roller assembly. The rollers should be black and look new.
Like MT says the PIU for this machine probably is rebuilt. With a worn 2nd pass roller trays 3 and 4 will give you trouble.

I'm sorry that I don't really know what part the PIU assy is. To try to solve the problem I have replaced RG5-1852-490N with a brand new assy which includes the blue and the black pickup rollers. I have also fitted a maintence kit.
I don't have a tray 4 - only 2 and 3, 500 sheet trays an I'm certain they're set to the correct size.
Cheers.

Thanks for your suggestions. I've solved my problem. I had the wrong part no.
I needed a RG5-4334 which looks exactly the same as the RG5-1852 but must have differnt gearing inside the black box at the side. It now feeds like a good un from tray 3.
Cheers.
