I've got a second hand HP 4000 tn that I've been trying to connect to our small inhome network. This machine has a Jetdirect card installed, I've tried moving it between the two available slots and performed a cold reset each time. The problem is the machine won't generate an IP Address for itself (no info is shown in the I/O dropdown menu).

Are there any jumpers on the motherboard that would be holding this network card out? Or is it likely that the network card is pooched?

The model of the network card is: hp jetdirect 615n
j6057a 10/100x

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a recall on that model jet direct card. Go to the HP site and do a search on the card.

Do you get a green light on the Jet direct?

When you print a config page does the 2nd sheet show "I/O card not ready"?

Sounds like bad JD

I printed Config pages out with the card in both slots, it showed up as empty on the reports. The green lights do not light up on the card either. It's starting to look like the card is pooched.

Thanks for the info concerning the recall. I found information on it on the HP website as you had suggested. Looks like they dropped the recall last October, but for whatever reason, started honoring it again.

I will call them tomorrow to see if they still have a sense of humor.

Thanks a bunch for all your help.
