I work for a small bath products supply outfit that has grown remarkably quickly over the last year. Up until now we have gotten by with a few office jet printers, but must now move to a more efficient workflow model, that being larger networked printers. We have some concerns about how secure this will be. We've heard that it is possible for someone to gain access to your network through print devices that include fax modems. Is this true? And if so, how can we prevent this? Is there a way to configure printers to validate each user’s identity over the network before allowing access? We are still running Windows '98, we were told that we will have to upgrade our OS to "Active Directory 2003" in order to take advantage of any security features built into the new generation of printers. Is this true? And what are these "security features"? A lot of questions I know, but we need some direction on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
