dirty copies

My HP color laserjet 5M leaves part of the printed image of the former copy on the current copy.
If running a few blank copies, than the copies clean up. I find the exact pattern (A line about 1/8 " wide) on the drum and obviously it is toner from the former print.

Strangely enough the first copy doesn't seem to lack the toner at that place. The transfer belt is clean and so is the fuser/coater kit.

I can do with good suggestion before i buy a new drumkit; btw the drumkit looks OK and has 50% life left.

If you can see it on the drum on the toner cartridge, it most likely is the cartridge itself. If you are using remanufactured toners, I can almost guaranty that the cartridge is the problem. Use HP only!!! Hope that helps, Jim :)
