have a 4100tn that when it prints, the majority of the page come out fine but there is a 1 inch strip that runs down the left side of the page that prints out very light and almost impossible to read. Any suggestions on a possible solution? ANy help would be appreciated.

Check the polygon mirror in the laser unit. Dust gets on one side of mirrors as it's spinning and causes light print. Clean all mirrors while apart! David

you didn't mention toner cartridge or fuser.
If you pull the toner at mid print what does the image on the paper look like?

Check the toner cartidge drum and the fuser flim for any streaks and do a half test to see if there is a streak before the fuser if there is a streak before the fuser assembly then its the toner cartridge, if there is a streak after the fuser flim then its the fuser that needs its heater assembly replaced.

This is a rare problem, but it does happen, usually its the either the fuser or the toner cartridge, however a clean inside the scanner unit wouldnt hurt.

Rule of thumb: left side fuser, right side cartridge
