Occasionally my printer will print a page with only a small solid black block and happy face in the upper left corner of the sheet. Doesn't matter what I am doing at the time, just does it.
Am running WindowsXP SP1 on a home network. This only happens when using the computer that the printer is connected to. Have run virus/spyware scans as suggested by others and all in clean. Have installed the printer on a USB port and used the software/driver provided by HP on CD.
Can somebody tell me what might be causing this and what can be done to stop it?
Thank you very much,
Gregg Fogelman

Howdy, ya might be using a postscript driver instead of a pcl one.
Depends on the app you use.

Thank U, Michael
My system info says "HP LaserJet 1200 Series PCL." Doesn't matter what app I am running. Can be playing a game, working on a spreadsheet, or even working on this reply and it will spit out that page. Is really annoying. Have solved the waste of paper by stacking all the used pages in manual feed. Someone suggested running virus/spyware scan. All done. Clean. Have also uninstalled completely and reinstalled the driver from the CD.
Wish I could put an end to this and still have the printer to use.

Sorry I hav'nt been back sooner. Have you added memory?
Or is it a Postscript chip? You might try the 5e driver.
