I love my HP5 but just started getting unever greys in the screened back areas. I thought a new fuser might fix this. I ordered one but can't get to the old fuser to replace it. What I've read says to open back of printer, unscrew two screws and replace but the opening isn't big enough to get the old fuser out or the new one in. I tried to take off the main casing but got stuck trying. Are there any instructions anywhere that tell how to get to the inside of my HP and replace the fuser. I don't like the thought of buying new printers everytime something needs to be replaced and I'm frustrated that no longer do companies send manuals with their products that show how to replace items that wear out over time (I think we've had our printer 6 years). Please help.

Thanks. Self-employed mom in small town in Oregon.

You are mixing up a LaserJet 5 with a LaserJet 5MP ... the installation procedures are different! Replacing a 5MP fuser is quite involved, you have to remove the printer's outer panels to access the fuser...
It is not simply folding down the back and removing two screws...
I don't recommend end users doing this installation...
