Thread: Laserjet 3100 false jam error

Question Laserjet 3100 false jam error

Hello: my usually trusty 3100 is reporting a paper jam condition. When attempting to print or copy, the page appears to print normally, but does not completely exit the printer; a couple of inches are still in the rollers. Pull that (intact) sheet out, paper jam error condition remains. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Geo

It could be that a paper detection flag is sticking somewhere.

Hi Brian--can you describe or point me to a description of flag/sensor locations? I pulled all the plastic covers off the housing, but (although I'm an engineer) I'm a bit reluctant to start random disassembly of the structural innards.

    Thanks,
    Geo

The 3100 has same enigine as the 5L and 6L, perhaps that helps.
Here you can find diagrams of this machine: http://www.printerworks.com/Catalogs/3100-Catalog/3100-AssblyContents.html
