Question about Oscilloscopes

Does any technician use Oscilloscopes for technical work or isnt it nessary?

Also if its used in the industry what can you use it for?

Hi Stuart,

I suppose the need for an oscilloscope has become less and less through the years, I did used to use them years ago but nowadays it's hardly worth it, you pinpoint the error to a board and swap that, spending hours searching for the defective chip and replacing that isn't economical anymore.

I even used to calibrate floppy drives (5,25" and 8") with an oscilloscope years ago, I suppose that shows my age.
