Thread: HP4050/4000 hardware replaceable?

    Default HP4050/4000 hardware replaceable?

About 1 year ago, I replaced my HP4050 fuser core.

Just today, a part inside the fuser assembly has broken down. I am not sure what the part is called, but I think it is a film sleeve. It looks like a sleeve of grey film, about the consistency of photographic film. It rolls against an orange roller.

The grey film mentioned above has become brittle and torn on one end. Is this part replaceable? It does not appear to be accessible without special tools. Do I have to get a whole new fuser core?

I believe this part is the same on the HP 4000.

Yes, that is a fixing film which rotates around a heating element. You will need to replace the fuser. The sleeve/fixing film doesn't rip very often on that model fuser. Make sure that nobody feeds paper with a staple in it through the printer.
