Default HP 4200 Envelope Feeder Question

Our H.R. people send out postcards to acknowlege the receipt of an application. The card stock is dusty and they have to keep blowing the dust off the Tray One feed roller. The tray can only hold a short stack of card stock. Will the Envelope Feeder accessory work well for this application?
The card stock is about 4" X 6"

    Thanks,

    Al

Sounds like generally speaking it would be a decent match for your needs, Al.

    a few "negatives":
-- I would guess this will wear the accessory out a little faster than normal, since the paper type is a bit harsher than intended use ... you've got the thicker card stock, plus the same dust issue as with Tray 1 roller...

-- Not sure how many postcards your HR people are really printing each month; in the "long long term" keep in mind that HP is not selling replacement rollers/parts for that series of 4200/4250 envelope feeders, so eventually when the rollers in the feeder "die" you are stuck with cleaning/"rejuvenating" the roller, or else buying another entire envelope feeder.

For what it's worth, I don't think that postcards are harder on a feeder assembly than envelopes.

The envelopes and postcards still have to meet the specs for the printer.

The dust will be a problem. Can't they find a better grade of paper?

    Default HP 4200 Envelope feeder

Thanks for the input. The customer decided not to get an envelope feeder because they had trouble with one in the past and they have no money. Since this is the government they tend to buy cheap supplies. Often the people who use them have no choice in what actually gets purchased.

    Thanks!

    Al
