Is the cartridge brand new original HP or has it been refilled? In my experience they can only be refilled once or twice but new are best.
It's probably the fuser. The fuser film tends to wear out in the middle on the 4250 and 4350's.
The printer needs to be connected directly to one PC via the USB cable and shared by that PC over the network. Networking USB devices can be a real pain.
If the heads are built into the printer (like Epsons), then yes. On machines like Brother or Canon where the heads are replacable, the cost of the heads is too high to risk using generic ink. I've...
Most of the muli-function units don't work well through external print servers as the software wasn't written for that purpose. They are generally intended to connect directly to one PC, not...
Lasers are higher quality and lower cost per page, but on the shelf or flyer, ink jets appear to be cheaper due to the low purchase price. I bought a new Lexmark multi-function unit last Xmas for...
How are the feed rollers? #1 cause of paper jams.
It probably has a fault with the purge unit and should also be cleaned and lubricated. You need to dismantle the machine to get the purge unit out. If the heads have sat uncapped for a while, then...
There should be a pattern as to which LED blinks and how many times it blinks. This number will give you the diagnostic code (check it at canon.com).
From your description, however, you will...
Does the cleaner still contact the drum? If not you will get ghosting (image faintly repeating). It's possible also that the laser glass/ mirrors need cleaning (major dismantling to clean properly)....
By RJ45, I assume you mean they are Cat 5 Ethernet cables? You must also configure the IP address on the printer to match a valid address AND subnet on your network. This address must then be...
Glad to hear your prints are nice and clear. The print cartridge is the culprit for most print quality issues. As far as surge protection, a decent power bar works fine. Don't buy the cheapest from...
First off, I'm not a fan of refilling carts. It's a good idea environmentally and economically, but the end results are generally pretty poor (leaking, wrong colours, cartridge errors, etc.). Most...
You may need to clean the head contacts on the carriage unit aswell as the foil contacts. Make sure to unplug the power first. HP's advice sounds like nonsense.
Do the margins shift? You may need to oil the carriage rail.
Unfortunately, I don't have one around at this time, but you're right in that you have to tear it apart, right down to the frame. Just take your time and be observant for screws (#10 Torx) or plastic...
Is this the signal cable to the carriage assembly or the encoder strip that runs from one side of the frame to the other? If its the signal cable, you will have to dismantle the machine to remove the...
Hey James; I've heard of that solution, but have never used it. I took the Epson course a few years back when I worked for a dealer. The course instructor is the ont who recommended the Simple Green...
Dismantle and clean the laser assembly. It's probably dusty.
Is the toner properly fused to the page? If so, it could be the laser assembly.
Print off the Configuation page in the Test menu. It shows the print count along with other useful info.
Interesting post. Colour laser printers are becoming more economical to buy and run. It is definetly the way things are headed, and hopefully will open more opportunities for independant service...
I know exactly how you feel. I've been an electronics tech for 20 yrs, and it's getting harder to repair boards due to unsourcable IC's and artificially low prices on new machines. As I'm sure you're...
I'm assuming your running a version of Windows? Turn off, or better yet unplug, the printer. Go to the printer settings and cancel all print jobs. Make sure the 960 is set as your default printer....
