I sounds like the computer is not reading the plug
I am not a tech but that's what I would try first

you should change the cartridge because a gear in the cartridge is not seated properly and can cause damage to your printer
Are you running the correct driver for this printer with your O/S if you are trying re-installing the driver again it may be corrupt
Hey Strider is those the same as a dot matrix???
That's the one I think of with the papers attached don't know the models
Check all cartridges see if they are running empty sounds like no yellow left.
i like the new Canon Pixma series they have individual inks for all colors some printers have only the four colors and some have the six colors which is the machine you would need for your photos two...
not a tech here.
But my guess would be the driver set up
Do you have other printer drivers installed or a scanner driver
Also check printer options in properties maybe not set to spool correctly...
Have you tried changing the color cartridge some printers use the magenta and cyan to inhance the black to look darker and if you are empty with the color it may not print black correctly
Try changing the ink cartridges
Or take a Q-Tip with warm water and clean the print heads could have glue building up from the labels
On older style printers this is often caused by a bad main motor. (Older style printer being printers with halogen heating elements in the fuser - 4, 4+, 5, 4si, 5si, etc).
For trouble shooting 79 and 80 errors you want to determine if external I/O devices are the cause or if it is the formatter. Remove all external I/O devices (JetDirect, memory, etc.) and see if...

If you can find a tech for...
Check the driver it may be the wrong one.

Before unistall get new driver first and make sure it works with all O/S's
Driverguide.com may help...
I am not sure if you still have this problem but if you do try this.
Take a que-tip with warm water/ not to wet and clean all areas of the carriage and the cleaning station if you can get at it....
Do you have any other equipment installed such as a scanner or camera software.
This could be a IRQ problem.
Try uninstalling any equipment that might be using the same IRQ and install the printer...
Not to mention
Everytime you turn the machine on it will do it's own cleaning and aligning job,
which will use up valuable ink that is not nessasary if you use it everyday or so.
Have you updated your operating system with the newest service packs...
Some of the new printers require a certain service pack to be installed before running properly.
If your running Windows then...
I would check all parts such as the fuser/Trays etc...
Look for loose parts/ bent prongs/doors not closing properly/ tray paper sensor moved/
Sometimes it's the smallest thing and it cause such...
The only thing I can think of is the second cartridge could be faulty, try another.
Or the fuser is going and needs to be repaired.
Have you tried a new cartridge.
Ghosting can sometimes be a drum unit problem inside the cartridge.
I went on the internet typed in your code you gave, and found a site it might help

Sounds like the flyer was printed on a LASER COLOR PRINTER
these have special chemical toners that look waxy type when printed.
You need to buy a color laser not a color inkjet printer.
Very...
Pick up rollers
and seperation pads. 2 Kits
Or try just cleaning the rollers with alchol.
I have heard in the past that the IRQ for the scanner causes problems.
It was told to me to un- install and re-install the scanner first then in-stall the printer and fax.
Hope it helps
Have you tried changing the cartridges.
It may be a faulty one and not reading it correctly
