I have a problem with a used kyocera fs-3820n printer (55k pages) I recently got my hands on. Prints with black areas appears greyish, with only the bottom of the fields (including bottom of letters) being black.

My thought was that the toner was low and I installed a new one, from a kyocera tk-65 toner kit made for the printer. I also performed the cleaning. This doesn't seem to have solved the problem however, with prints of black areas still appearing grey even after 40 something prints, many of them only black in order to clean out old toner.

I have tried increasing print density to maximum and tested the eco printing setting (turning it on made things even worse).

Any ideas of what the problem might be?

Thanks,
